Supertramp - Breakfast In America

Breakfast in America (em português: Café da manhã na América) é o sexto álbum da banda britânica de rock progressivo Supertramp, lançado em 29 de março de 1979.
Estão presentes no álbum algumas das canções de maior sucesso da banda, como "The Logical Song", "Goodbye Stranger", "Take the Long Way Home" , o álbum foi gravado em 1978 no estúdio B da Village Recorder em Los Angeles.

Breakfast in America é uma verdadeira amostra da gama de sons e de possibilidades que podem ser obtidas com um piano elétrico Wurlitzer.
O Wurlitzer é utilizado em quase todas as faixas do álbum e dependendo do modo como é tocado, pode soar de forma bem diferente, como por exemplo em "Child of Vision" e "The Logical Song".
O som peculiar do Wurlitzer já havia sido explorado pela banda em músicas como "Dreamer" e "Lady", mas nunca de forma tão ampla como em Breakfast in America.

Apesar dos desentendimentos entre os integrantes da banda, Breakfast in America se tornou o álbum mais vendido da banda, com 4 milhões de cópias vendidas apenas nos Estados Unidos e onze milhões em todo o mundo.

O álbum alcançou o primeiro lugar na parada Billboard 200, permanecendo no topo por seis semanas não-consecutivas a partir de 19 de maio de 1979.

O álbum também alcançou o topo das paradas da Noruega, do Canadá, da Áustria, da Alemanha e da Austrália.

O álbum foi relançado duas vezes , a primeira pela MFSL, companhia especializada em lançar álbuns originalmente gravados no formato de LP em CD.
Em 11 de junho de 2002 a A&M Records relançou o álbum no formato de CD com toda a arte do encarte original do álbum preservada.

Gosto particularmente deste trabalho dos Supertramp , a capa do álbum esta entre as 100 mais sinistras numa votação feita , como gosto da analisar as capas e procurar por códigos e mensagens escondidas , costumo dizer que esta capa é de certa forma um pronuncio e aviso do 11 de Setembro...mas isso é já é o meu lado Supersticioso e Esotérico a falar :)
